Meet the Winners - members of the Best Guns Team!
        And indeed they were the best guns.

Best Guns is a group of shooters from in and   around Pinehurst, NC.  Members of the team include: (from left to right in the sport coats: Andy Blackwell, Jack Wood, Bob Harding (team captain) and Richard Harris.  Accompanying the team are sharp shooter Tim Bradley, and members of the USA Shooting Team - Olympic Bronze medalist Corey Cogdell, JO World Cup Silver medalist Amber English and multiple World Cup medalist Haley Dunn.

Congratulations to the Best Guns.  This winning team received a free birth into the 2010 Annie Oakley Boom Days, Quail & Clay Cup to defend their title.  See you next winter! And may the best guns win!

 Sandhills Quail & Clay Cub at Tobacco Stick Hunting Preserve in Candor/Biscoe, NC

The team were given five shells per individual and two hours to bag four quail - 16 total for the team. After each team’s limit is bagged - or all shells are used -teams then compete in the clay portion of the competition, designed to add an additional challenge for the shooters, the clay portion featured a flurry of 50 clays thrown in a three minute period.  It was a unique shooting opportunity and great fun!  The winning team will be the one with the highest combined score of greatest number - and size -  of quail shot using the least number of shells and the highest number of targets broken.   Oakley herself probably couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

Tobacco Stick Hunting Preserve is located just north of Pinehurst in Candor, NC and one mile south of Biscoe, NC.  Tobacco Stick is a retired rural tobacco farm. This Hunting Preserve has been established for the purpose of hunting upland game, providing hunters the best hunting experience available in a natural setting that is reminiscent of the 1940's and 50's. Tobacco Stick provides shooters the best in hunting land comprised of open fields, pine woods and impoundments. The planned acreage combines grasses, food plots, and timber to create a natural habitat for the birds and a pleasing visit for the hunters.
