Free Exhibition by World Record Holder Tom Knapp!

On Dec. 5th Sharp Shooting Exhibition Held at Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course

Just as in the days of Annie Oakley, Tom Knapp's shooting skills thrill spectators of all ages. As part of the tribute to Annie Oakley and Pinehurst’s roots in shooting, Tom will give a special performance honoring both the shooters of the past and the skills that are possible with the guns of today.  Additionally, Tom will recreate some of Annie’s most well known tricks such as shooting playing cards and shooting over his shoulder while using a mirror to sight in the target.

Tom will have an opportunity to perform his skill on the No. 8 golf course, the final location of the Pinehurst gun club.  For over 90 years, between 1895 and 1986, the Pinehurst Gun Club flourished as a place for shooters of all skill levels to enjoy their sport, compete in various events, get lessons or watch the best of the best, including Annie Oakley, display their skill with a gun.  Even Annie herself taught well over 15,000 people to shoot during her time in North Carolina.

On Saturday, December 5th the course will be shut down and the driving range will be turned into a shooting range of sorts to host Tom Knapp’s famous exhibition. This will be the first time since Annie Oakley left Pinehurst in 1925 that locals and guests will once again have an opportunity to experience a sharp shooting exhibition at Pinehurst.

Tom Knapp

Tom Knapp is The Shooting Star, and one of today’s greatest exhibition shooters.  A true living legend, Tom has used Benelli shotguns and Federal Premium ammunition to achieve three world records for hand-thrown clay targets.  In addition to thrilling crowds around the world with seemingly impossible feats with a shotgun, Tom travels the globe taping and hosting Benelli’s American Bird Hunter and American Safari TV shows.  He is regarded as the finest ambassador that American shooting sports has ever known.

Growing up in rural America, Tom developed a knack for hitting targets at an early age.  Whether it was using shoelaces and a shoe tongue to create an elementary sling shot, or a snow fence slat and rock for a bat and ball, Tom looked for and found targets everywhere.  These early games lead to shooting, first bb guns then shotguns.  After seeing Herb Parsons perform his sharpshooting exhibition, Tom had a new goal.  After 20 years, Tom’s day job in the outdoors gave way to a career honoring the likes of Annie Oakley and Herb Parsons while perfecting his own exhibition style.
